Every Monday we send out a Newsletter of studio happenings. Please advise us immediately if you are not receiving our weekly updates as this is how we keep in touch with our families!

Start Up:

Full year programs begin the week of September 11-15. All 6 week sessional programs begin the week of September 18-22.

The first week of dance students may attend regularly scheduled classes and TRY OUT classes to better understand the variety of classes we offer. Once you have made your choice please confirm your registration with our front desk team by September 18 & the fee information will be emailed to you!

Trial Classes:

Students are welcome to try a variety of classes but must register temporarily into the class and sign a waiver. Their name will be added to the attendance roll of the classes they selected. A registration fee must accompany the registration and is non-refundable. Each class has a limited number of attendees and by temporarily registering your child into a class, our staff can regulate numbers, build an attendance list for teachers and ensure a safe dance experience for all. If a student arrives and is not on the attendance roll they will not be permitted to try the class until a registration and waiver is complete. Students can try a variety of classes over a 1 week period. Once they have selected the classes they wish to stay enrolled in, yearly payments will be collected.

Class Attire and Footwear

We recognize that students may not have all their dance supplies available to them the first week of classes. We ask that students come with their hair up and a t-shirt, shorts and bare feet until they have all their dance attire available to them.

Our usual consignment sale will be held at the same time!

Office Hours: Monday-Thursday  4:00 - 7:00 pm.

Viewing Weeks:

Viewing weeks for full year programs  take place in October and March.

For 6 week sessional programs the viewing takes place on the last class of each session..

During these weeks parents may come in and view the class progress being made!  Viewing weeks provide you the opportunity to join your dancer at the studio and observe the progress they are making in class  and share in their joy of dance! This helps positively reinforce your child's commitment to dance.

Your Financial Dance Education Investment:

Thank you for your investment in your child's Fine Arts Education. We have developed various payment plans to meet your financial means. Monthly installments for yearly tuition are based on minutes of dance per week over 29 weeks of classes. These fees include G.S.T., regular weekly dance instruction, class worksheets, special in class guest teachers, and year end show rehearsals/performance. Registration fees are collected and include insurance coverage and music licensing fees. Please see our Dance Program Fees & Payment Policies for details as well as the Studio Policy and Procedures on our website.

Your dance investment will aid your child to be active, fit, and confident as well as successful in being a kind, caring, team player in life. Your child will learn more than just how to dance… They learn to be great human beings!

Studio Policy and Procedures and Studio Waivers:

Upon registration you were asked to accept the terms of the Studio Policies and Procedures and to sign a General Liability Waiver. If you missed this step in the registration process we ask that you please download these documents, read and sign and email back to us. You may use Adobe Scan and Adobe Reader App’s on your phone for your convenience. Our Studio Policies and Procedures document is very helpful in understanding how our studio operates and maintains a safe and healthy, happy dance family!

Special Events:

Many special events happen over the course of the year to create a fun filled atmosphere!!. Usually our studio participates in great community events such as “The Pumpkin Walk”, “Christmas Parade & Light Up”, "Festival of Trees”, “Street Festival” & “Blue Heron Days”. We ask a variety of classes to perform for the public on various occasions on a volunteer basis.

We will also continue the tradition of fun monthly events within our Dance Studio such as “PJ Week”, “Wacky Hair Week” & “Beach Week” just to mention a few!! Pictures of our events are posted on our website and on our Facebook & Instagram pages!!

Costumes:

Dancers will have an opportunity to perform in the Year End Showcase and or Festivals. All  students are required to make a down payment of $85 per costume per class and is due October 21st.  Costumes for dancers can range from $85 for our younger dancers to approximately $150 for our senior dancers. Costumes are custom made with special fabrics, sequins, and other materials for the students. Costume fees are non-refundable after November 1st. The cost of costumes includes these specialized materials, US exchange rate fluctuations and alterations.  We pride ourselves on making your dancer look awesome on stage, which requires a commitment from us all.  Any costume deposit fees remaining after final costume payments are made, will be credited to the students account.

Festivals:

Footworks Dance Academy chooses the festivals or competitions it will participate in 2023-2024. These choices are made in September and will be published in our weekly communication updates in October.

Please note only students 6 years and older participate in festivals. Our Circus and Acrobatic program students and our Preschool programs do not go to festivals.

Dancers have an opportunity to participate in 2-3 festivals. This is not a requirement or mandatory, but is recommended that dancers participate in these awesome team-performing opportunities. Extra entry fees are required and collected in NOVEMBER. By choosing to participate, dancers and parents are committing to regular class attendance, possible extra rehearsals, fees, costumes and other festival requirements.  The other dancers are depending on your dancer to be there on time and prepared to participate and celebrate with them.

Deadlines for fees and registration will be in November and cannot be deferred. In the case of withdrawal, festival fees are non-refundable after December 1st.

Special groups, solos and duets are optional for students to participate in. Students wanting to participate in a special number will apply in October upon registration for festivals/competitions. Permission from the students' weekly dance  teacher will be needed before application and a student contract will need to be signed to understand the roles and responsibilities of the student when involved in a special number. Extra choreography fees will also be applied in addition to the festival entry fees.

It is the parents and students choice if they wish to participate in festivals/competitions.

All further details on festivals/competitions will be available in October in our weekly  communication updates.

Year End Recital/ Showcase:

The year end recital is a celebration for everyone, and to make it work, we need your assistance with volunteering to supervise groups, help with setup & takedown, props, front of house and with moving dancers from their waiting areas to the stage and back.

Sign up occurs in April. It is a memorable event with a grand finale number that includes all dancers on stage. Our Pre-schoolers have their own show allowing for a personal and very special moment to share with their family members!!

Birthday Parties, Wedding Dances & Special Company Parties:

We host a variety of parties from Children’s Birthday Parties, to Wedding Party dance lessons to special company Christmas Party Activities! Do you want to host a dance themed get together? Ask us about our party packages!

Thank you for joining our fun filled team and we hope that you enjoy your time with us…
