My name is Abby and I have been part of Footworks Dance Academy since I was three years old! During my time at Footworks, I have danced in kid dance, ballet, jazz, musical theatre, contemporary, tap, acro, aerial, lyrical and this year performance company. My favourite dance is musical theater. I am excited to have a part and perform the Nutcracker this Christmas season.

Hello! My name is Amy Erickson  I have been dancing at Footworks for the past 8 years. I am in seven dances and I enjoy being a STEP student at the studio. I am 16 years old, and I go to school at Barrhead Composite High School. When you can’t find me at the studio or at school I will probably be checking cows on my family farm. I love skiing and paddle boarding in the mountains.

My name is Annabelle Kapler. I've been dancing since I was 3 years old and I haven't stopped since. Some of the dances that I've done are tap, jazz, lyrical, acro and ballet, but tap has been my ultimate favorite. My favorite thing about dancing is going to festivals,because I love the way it makes me feel before, during and after I perform. I'm excited to be in the Nutcracker because it's something that performance company has never done before and it's exciting to try something new.

Arianna Blasko is a 15-year-old who has been dancing with Footworks Dance Academy for the last 2 years. She is truly excited to be a part of The Nutcracker this year! Her favourite types of dance are ballet, lyrical and musical theater. This is her first time performing in The Nutcracker. Her favorite scenes in The Nutcracker are Waltz of the Flower and the battle scene. She lives on a farm with 2 cats, 2 dogs and five horses. Her favorite color is lilac. Arianna is overjoyed to participate in The Nutcracker this year with Footworks Dance Academy.

Hello! My name is Ava Miedema. I'm 10 years old. I live on a honey farm near Barrhead. Some of my favourite things are, story writing, playing the piano, my Pomeranian Pippa and dancing. I enjoy learning many different types of dance but I love ballet and musical theatre the most. I'm very honoured to play Clara and to be apart of the Nutcracker performance. It is fun to watch during the holidays because it feels so magical and enchanting, I just can't wait for you to see it!

My name is Charis, I have many hobbies which often are inspired from dance. I am 16 and love the outdoors. I live on a hobby farm which allows me to enjoy the sunshine and rain, and even snow. I am the youngest of 6 kids and hope to follow my siblings' example to travel the world. “You can't do anything about the length of your life. But you can do something about its width and depth.”

Danika first stepped foot on a stage at the young age of 3. From that moment on she knew Dance was her dream. Danika has been dancing for 12 years and doesn't plan on stopping anytime soon. Danika is currently taking classes in Ballet, Pointe, Jazz, Lyrical, Modern, Contemporary, Hip hop, Musical theater and Acrobatics at both Illusion Dance Co. in Whitecourt and Footworks Dance Academy in Barrhead. This year, Danika is also mentoring the younger generations of dancers as a student teacher in Whitecourt in Jazz and Acro. Danika is currently a grade 9 student at Ecole St. Joseph School in Whitecourt, AB. Outside of school, Danika splits her time between camping on the McLeod River with her extended summer family and participating in water sports at her Grandpa's Lake or her Uncle's Cabin in BC. She especially enjoys slalom skiing, knee boarding and surfing. When it’s too cold to swim you will find Danika freezing her butt off watching her younger brother playing U13AA hockey games or falling on her butt snowboarding in Jasper. Danika would like to give a big thanks to her ever supportive parents Natillie & Steve, her brother Tristan and her family and friends for believing in her and watching her live her passion.

Hi, my name is Jamie Kalmbach. I am 16 and in grade 11. My hobbies are dancing and skiing. My favorite subject in school is math. Dancing is something I love to do. It makes me so relaxed and I can be myself. I have been skiing since I was little. It's lots of fun getting speed and flying down the hill, I am also a level one ski instructor. Math is my favorite subject because I love working with numbers. I have been in a performance company for a few years now, and they have all been really fun, this year will be the same.

Hi! My name is Jazlyn Bouvier. I’m in Grade 10. I have been dancing at Footworks for 11 years. I have tried almost every class but now my favorites are Jazz and Performance Company. I dance Jazz, Ballet, Perf. Co., Lyrical, Contemporary, Pre Pointe and Ballet Tech. I am in my third year of doing a solo. I always have a good time with STEP teaching the little dancers too. I love to dance more every year. I’m at the studio every day and have so much fun vibing with the dance family. Sometimes making my curly hair into dance hair drives me crazy. When I’m not dancing I like to ride Dirt Bikes with my Brother, Snowboarding, Camping, Paddle Boarding and Fishing & Hunting. I want to finish my Lifeguard training.  I ❤️ Friends and Family.  Popcorn & Jolly Ranchers are in my main food groups. 🤩

I am Jordyn and I am 9 years old. I live in Barrhead with my mom, dad, sister and my 3 lb chihuahua named Lily. I have super curly hair and I love it because it makes me unique. I have been dancing at Footworks since I was 18 months old! When I am not dancing I like to play with my friends and cousins. I love camping and going to Sylvan Lake in the summer. This year we went on the Aquasplash Wibit in the lake there and it was SO FUN!  My favourite thing to do in the winter is snowboarding! In school my favorite subject is art. I am also on the running team at school this year! I am excited to be  performing in The Nutcracker because my favorite style of dance is ballet and The Nutcracker is a famous ballet dance. I really like ballet because the character dances are really creative and fun.

Hi my name is Leah Kalmbach.  I'm 13 years old and I'm in grade 8. The dances I'm in are hip hop, jazz, ballet, and performance company. My favorite dance is hip hop . I also like to ski in the winter, and in the summer I like to go kneeboarding. In the show this year “the nutcracker” I'm excited because ballet is not my favorite but it is good to try it. The nutcracker will be so much fun because it is something new.

Hi, My name is Lindsay. I’m 10 and in Grade 5. I love to dance and like to go paddle boarding. I like running. Last year I made the school running team and this year I made the cross country team. This summer I went to Idaho with my family .In Idaho we went to Yellowstone and obviously went to Chick Fil A. I have a twin sister. My favorite color is pastel green and I enjoy Math or LA at school. I have been dancing since I was 3 years old, if i could only pick one style of dance to do I’d definitely pick lyrical. I'm very excited to do the Nutcracker because we have never done it before and we get to learn new dances, wear fun costumes and have new experiences.

Hi! I’m Lydia Williams, I’m 14 years old and this is my 8th year dancing. I have practised ballet, jazz, hip hop, lyrical, pointe, acrobatics & my absolute favourite class is aerial. I love ‘hanging around’ on the hoop, cube, trapeze and silks. I am in grade 9 and my favourite teacher is my mom, as I am homeschooled! When I’m not at dance I enjoy driving, hot tubing, getting my nails done and having an ice cold glass of Coke!

Lyla has  a passion to help the younger generation to thrive by assisting in the STEP Program.

Hi, I’m Natalie Dekker, I am 14 years old. I live in Fort Assiniboine on a big farm and in a household with six people in it. I have three brothers so dance is a good way to get away from them once in a while, and I love dance very much. I have been doing dance since I was four years old. I have done ballet, jazz, hip hop, performance company, and my all time favorite, tap. I am very excited to be able to do The Nutcracker because it is new for everyone and is a change from the Grinch and The Polar Express. I hope you all enjoy the show!

Hello! My name is Olive! I am eight years old and I absolutely live to dance, I have been dancing since I could walk! But I've been in formal classes for seven years! I love all styles of dance but my favorite classes are Jazz, Hip Hop and Musical Theater. I have a busy dance schedule but I also play the violin and love to take care of my pet goats! I live on a small farm near Fort Assiniboine, and love to play outside in my mud kitchen and build snow forts in the winter! I also love to sew, embroider and paint watercolour. I also spend a lot of time reading and my favorite series currently is Harry Potter, my favorite characters are Dobby and Hermonie. I have loved being able to be a part of The Nutcracker and practicing week after week. Being a part of the Footworks Performance Company has been a highlight of my 2024 dance season!

In my free time I enjoy baking, babysitting, spending time with friends and family, and snowboarding.

Hi! I’m Sophia Danks, I am 17 years old and in grade 12. This is my eleventh year dancing and I currently train in ballet, pointe, jazz, lyrical, contemporary, modern, and musical theatre. Out of these, ballet and lyrical would have to be my favourite, I absolutely love the emotion and elegance associated with these styles. Outside of dance, I spend most of my time hanging out with my family and pets. I also love to build lego and puzzles while watching a good movie. This is my second year in performance company and I am so excited to be joining Footworks’ new production of “The Nutcracker”. Enjoy the show!
